Family Shepherds: Calling and Equipping Men to Lead Their Homes is a book written by Voddie Baucham Jr. I have personally heard him speak and he is excellent! Mr. Baucham has written two other books: What He Must be...If He Wants to Marry My Daughter and Family Driven Faith. I knew he was an excellent teacher, so I knew this book would be great.

Like the movie that came out recently, (Courageous) this book encourages men to step up and "be a man". They tell men how to lead their homes and how important it is to do so. The majority of the kids in jail are in there because they did not have a positive father figure in their life to lead them and be their example. Many daughters turn to buys their age to find the love that they are missing by not having a father. This can lead to teenage pregnancy and abortions. Without a father, girls do not have the love coming from a dad who protects and treasures them as his "sweet little girl". Without a father, guys growing up do not have as close of a positive example of how to treat ladies and how to grow towards God and lead households. Voddie Baucham Jr. encourages men to lead their families and teach them about God. He encourages them to be a better example of all men should be. This was a very good book by a very good teacher that would help keep families together if men stepped up and lead their families.

Thank you to Net Galley for letting me review this book.

The Coming Revolution by Dr. Richard G. Lee is a book published by Thomas Nelson publishers that comes out on January 31, 2012. I received this book from Thomas Nelson's Book Sneeze program in exchange for my honest review.

This book makes you think about the reasons that we had the American Revolution before, in 1776: freedom, unfair taxes, and religious freedom to worship God. Dr. Lee lets you see that America is going through the same choices and problems now. While this revolution may not include bullets and cannons, Americans need to stand up for what is right and fight against false religions that are invading our country, work for ourselves instead of taking government handouts, and the crazy taxes issue. Americans and Christians alike can see the direction that the country is going in, and do all we can to stop it. America, it's our duty to band together and fight for freedom. Do not let our country fail!

This was a powerful book; I would give it five out of five stars. While it is sad, the American people can stop this craziness and build our country to a better place while America is still considered the greatest country in the world, we need to work to keep it that way

The Truth about Guys, a book by Chad Eastham, was excellent. It was written to teenage girls to help them understand more about how they think and act. It was very interesting, to say the least! Mr. Eastham has a great personality and it was so fun to read his book. There were several parts that made me stop and think, and others that made me laugh out loud. I would totally recommend this book. It was published by Thomas Nelson and can be bought at amazon.com and Christian bookstores. I really enjoyed it; this book made for an easy and interesting read.

This book discusses several important issues, such as why guys may not remember conversations as well as girls, a girl's value to God, dating, what guys are thinking, and many other helpful things for a girl to know about guys. I learned that they like it more when we already know our value and worth in God and that it's their job to re-enforce it, not create it. Girls should go around with their heads held high, and show guys that they are to be seen as treasures, not targets.

This book helped me understand guys better and may even save some relationships!

I received this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review. Thank you!

First Date by Krista McGee was published by Thomas Nelson publishers. It came out recently, was apparently, was on the BookSneeze program but I missed it. I ended up checking it out at the library and really enjoyed it! I finished it in less than 24 hours, even though it was over three hundred pages long. This book was so wonderful; I cannot stop talking about it and would give it a six out of five stars.

Addy Davidson is a normal girl living in Tampa, Florida. She loves to read and water ski and is trying her best to get into an Ivy League college. When her principle calls her into his office to tell her that she has been picked to be on a reality television show, she does not know what to think. High schools around America had been entered into a large drawing. One hundred schools were chosen, and from each of those hundred, one girl was picked. That one girl would, along with the other ninety-nine girls, compete on a reality TV show to win a date with the President's son, Jonathan Jackson. Jonathan is the hottest boy in all the country who recently broke up with a girl from the Disney Channel. Now he's starting this show to let one hundred girls try to win a date with him.

Addy hates it. The last thing she wants to do is go onto a TV show that she didn't even audition for to win a date. She's never been on a date and does not really want to. Addy does her best to get out on the first round. That is, until Jonathan and her seem to connect and he is seemingly unimpressed by the other ninety-nine girls throwing themselves at him. From the starting one hundred girls, seventy are sent home and thirty remain. Each week five girls are taken off the show. Addy remains, and finds herself America's favorite. She does not know what to think.

On top off all that, there's Addy's haters, a hospital visit, a group of people trying to kill Jonathan and the president, and a producer that tries everything he can to get Addy off the show. Plus, there are challenges for sports, manners, and other things that the girls go through on the show. This jam packed book loosely resembles the Esther story in the Bible and was very enjoyable. This is a teen book for girls that would make a great gift! You can buy it on amazon.com or at Christian bookstores. Please read it; it's the best book I've read in a while.

This is a book written by Jenna Lucado Bishop, the daughter of popular author Max Lucado.  It is published by Thomas Nelson publishers.

This book was written in a very easy-to-read format, which I loved.  The author writes as if she is talking to you, and she is very open and honest.  Mrs. Bishop talks about how we get that feeling that God is far away and our faith is just plain boring.  She explains that that is because we do not realize how mush God has done for us: how he sent His son to die for us, how He offers us salvation, how He is building a mansion in heaven for us.  This made me so thankful for His love and my faith suddenly did not seem to boring anymore, in fact, within the next couple of days, God spoke to me directly! Now, I'm not saying that that had anything to do with the book; I would have to guess that it had more to do with me telling God that He can rule my life forever and use it for His heavenly purposes.  Anyway, this book helped me see God and my faith in a different, more powerful perspective.  This was such a wonderful book; I would recommend it for teenage girls because it talks a lot about emotions and several other girls-only topics.  This, I would say, would make a wonderful gift book, as long as you don't hurt somebody's feelings by making them think that you think their faith is boring.  Anyways, this is a wonderful book that I would totally recommend-it is wonderful!

Thank you so much to Thomas Nelson publishers and Book Sneeze for letting me review this book.  This is my honest review; I was not required to write a positive one.

Midnight in Austenland is a book written by Shannon Hale.  I received this book from Net Galley on my Kindle.  Since I had read Princess Academy (which was a children's book that won the Newberry Award and was also written by Shannon Hale) and loved it, I thought that I was going to enjoy reading this one.  It was not until after I agreed to review it and downloaded it onto my Kindle that I realized it was an adult book that I did not feel up to reading.  Since I downloaded it, however, I am required to write a 200+ review on it, so I will attempt to do so.

Charlotte is a lady who once married, but I personally did not get the idea that she ever fell in love. She just married.  But then her husband died.  She does not know what to do, and crumbles away inside herself.  She starts to get wrinkles.  She is unhappy.  Charlotte does not know what to do with her life.  Some of her friends think that she should go and find the perfect man and fall in love and get married, etc, etc.  Charlotte really does not know what to do.  Like Princess Academy, this book took a while to pick up in the beginning, or I was just impatient.

Do not let my bad review keep you from reading Miss Hale's works, though, as she is a great children's author.  I believe one of the reasons that I did not understand this novel was because I think there is another "Austenland" novel that I missed that came before this one.  Whether or not it is required to read that one first, I am sorry to say that I do not know.

This book is pretty good. It is written by Jamie Carie and published by B&H publishing company. This is the sequel to The Guardian Duke, and the second book in the Forgotten Castle series. In this book, Alexandria is in Iceland, continuing her search for her parents. Her fiancé, John Lemon, is at her side and overly protective. Alexandria is starting to get frustrated with him and his eagerness toward their relationship, and Alex wonders if she did the right thing or an impulse thing when she agreed to marry Lord John Lemon. She feels in her heart that she is in love with the duke, but she does know how to handle it because whenever she voices her doubt to John, he gets very mad. Meanwhile, the Duke of St. Easton has been taken back to London, where the regent's soldiers are sent to retrieve Alexandria. One day, the mysterious Spanish people who have been following and harming Alex, catch up with and capture the duke!! He is tortured, very weak, seasick, and sent to the King of Spain who wants the mysterious manuscript that the elder Featherstones, Alex's parents, have been sent to find. The way he goes about trying to get that is by trying to get Alexandria, who they think has more information. In reality, Alex knows nothing of it, and just wants to find her parents. Anyway, the duke convinces the king that he is the only one who can find Alexandria, and the king lets him go look for her to bring her back with an army of Spanish soldiers. I cannot really sum up the end part of the story, because then you would know whether or not the regent's soldiers or the Duke got to Alexandria first, or if either of them did! You'll have to read the book, which comes out in the next couple of months. You should be able to buy it online through Barnes & Noble or amazon.com.

Thank you so much to Net Galley and B&H publishers for letting me review this book! I really enjoyed it and cannot wait to read the third one, The Duke's Promise.

Pirate of My Heart by Jamie Carie is one of my personal favorite books.  I have already read it twice and will most likely read it again!

Kendra Townsend is an English lady.  (Like, her name is Lady Kendra Townsend, not just that she's a girl-which she is) Her mother died birthing her and all she has is her dad.  They are both very close.  One day, out of the blue, Kendra's uncle, her dad's long lost brother appears and asks for help in paying off his bills.  Kendra's father agrees, and then sees the amount and gets mad.  Kendra's uncle kills her dad, and then tries to marry Kendra off so that he can collect her dowry.  Kendra does not like that plan, so she tries to be as unattractive as possible.  Her plan works, but her uncle Andrew sends her off to America to some relatives that she has never met.  Along the way, she falls in love with the ship's captain.  There is a lot of drama as her aunt and uncle in America don't want her, until they also come up with the plan to marry her off and get her dowry.  (Kendra is unaware to all of this.) The sea captain's name is Dorian, and he is from a rich family that falls in love with Kendra immediantly.  Kendra's uncle, however, sees that if she marries him he would not get her dowry, and things get dangerous.  Kendra is captured and forced to marry a man that is supposed to spilt her dowry with her uncle in Amerca.  Or at least, all that was attempted.  You'll have to read it to see what actually happened.  You can buy this book on amazon.com or even your kindle or nook.  Please enjoy!

Thank you to Net Galley and B&H publishers for letting me review this book.  I really enjoyed it.

I Am Second is a very encouraging book-I loved it!! It includes some well-known and maybe not so well-known people that went through hard times and hit bottom but did not stay there! They realized that God should be First in their lives and place themselves Second.  They found out that when you take your eyes off of yourselves and put it on Jesus Christ, you do not feel so bad because you are taking care of others.

These stories are so encouraging and perfect for everybody because you can see that these people are not perfect yet they can live happily in God.  This book has several short stories from people including Bethany Hamilton, a surfer who had her arm bitten off by a shark and used the opportunity with all the media to share God's love, and many others.  You can read it all in one day or a story a day.  This is part of a campaign of people everywhere. You can visit their website at iamsecond.com.  You can join groups and buy merchandise, too.

Thank you to BookSneeze and Thomas Nelson publishers for letting me review this book.  I have really enjoyed it and am becoming a Second.

God, Girls, and Getting connected is a devotional written by Robin Marsh and Lauren Nelson.  This book is aimed towards teenagers.  The setup of the devotionals is really cool--in the beginning of that day's devotion, a girl has written God a text message, asking Him a question or telling about a problem.  Then, you have God's response, which includes a great lesson, possibly story, and Scripture.  These are short yet powerful devotions that teenagers and preteens will love.

At the start of the book, there are several pages about the authors, set up to look like Face book pages.  You can learn about these godly girls who are here to help you grow further into your personal walk with God.  You will learn that Lauren Nelson was Miss America in 2007, and Robin Marsh is a news reporter.

I really liked this book because it deals with common problems that teenagers face and gives a solution on their level and "in their language", using Face book and texting formats, plus helping girls to grow and live more closely to God.  This book would make a great gift.

Thank you to Net Galley and Harvest House publishers for letting me review this book.
